Residents from The Vineyards Residence enjoy local marsupials.
Residents from The Vineyards Residence recently enjoyed a visit to a favourite local destination, the Kangaroo Creek Farm. Wallabies, sugar gliders and emus were the main attractions during the visit with residents getting up close and personal feeding the animals and holding the sugar gliders.
Sugar gliders are often mistaken for chipmunks or compared to flying squirrels but are palm-size possums more closely related to other marsupials like kangaroos. Their big black eyes allow these nocturnal animals to navigate well in the dark. A flap of tissue, the gliding membrane, connects their wrists and ankles allowing the species to sail from one place to another with remarkable accuracy. These energetic and inquisitive animals are highly social making them an ideal marsupial to engage with during a visit to the Kangaroo Creek Farm.
