Sachets of Lavender, a Social Activity Enjoyed at The Vineyards Residence
The recreation department at The Vineyards Residence in Kelowna, BC recently gained two additional enthusiastic team members for three weeks. Danielle and Morgan, Recreation Therapist Assistant students from Okanagan College, were completing their practicum in Health and Social Development. While at The Vineyards, they received an orientation to the residence, met all the residents, and staff and supported the recreation department in activities focused on the five domains of recreation: physical, social, intellectual, spiritual, and emotional. Whether it was a small, medium, or large group, or 1:1 visit, the students were taught to customize their approach to each individual. In their time at The Vineyards Residence, Danielle and Morgan quickly established rapport with the residents and made adaptations to activities when necessary for individual needs. A favourite social activity was crafting lavender sachets, which the residents could keep or give as gifts. Intellectually stimulating trivia was also popular. Some residents' eclectic knowledge is amazing!
We wish Danielle and Morgan the very best as they continue their post-secondary journey and hope to see them back at The Vineyards Residence very soon!
