It is a lovely place for seniors. The staff are all very friendly. Lots of activities. I would highly recommend Scarborough Retirement Home.
I assisted my friend with her move into her new home at Scarborough Retirement Residence yesterday. I know that she had toured several retirement residences before making her final decision. She had also spent two weeks a month earlier to ensure she was making the right decision.
As I entered the building, I was quite pleased with the cleanliness of the home. The hallways were well lit and the interaction between the staff and the residents was heart-warming. I spent 3 hours there and observed residents and staff in different areas. It was clear to me that the residents were well cared for. Everywhere I turned, I noticed different members of staff chatting with the residents and calling them by name. I loved that!
I was also quite impressed to see the menu as well as other notices that were posted on the bulletin boards.
I left there feeling quite confident that my friend had chosen the right place. Had I been looking for a retirement residence to live, I would not hesitate in making this my home, and believe me, my standards are very high!
I had the privilege of staying there for a week while my cousin was being transferred to long term care. I can't say enough good things about SRR - They have done a tremendous job of creating a welcoming community and a true home for the residents!
Small, well-maintained facility where residents are very well cared for.
My mom, and grandmother in law are residents there for almost 2 years. The care they have been provided is stellar! They truly care about their residents. The extra care and caution used during this Covid crisis makes me so much more comfortable about their safety. Thank you.
What I liked about Scarborough when I first sort of visited it was it's a smaller community and I felt that there was more of an opportunity for my mum to feel part of a family versus getting lost in the crowd... Scarborough Retirement Residence bills themselves as a boutique senior residence and I consider it as such. There's very much a family feel when you enter the residence. And in terms of the ownership and management team, I feel that they're really first class...
Mom has a greater level of contentment and with that contentment... she doesn't have to worry about anything. She doesn't have to worry about looking after the house or paying bills or anything like that. She can really just enjoy her life. And so I've seen that kind of improvement. There's no question that kind of change is a significant change for someone of that age to move from the family home into a new residence. But with time, I've seen her make that adjustment. She feels that she's safe, she doesn't have to worry about anything. I've noticed the difference when I call her. There's an upbeat tone in her voice now.
For me, it feels like a home environment, a place where you actually can call it home. It has that welcoming feel as soon as you walk in the door. Staff are super friendly. There's usually residents sort of sitting in the lobby enjoying a conversation. That smaller community feel gives you a sense that you're in a home.
My mom has been a resident at SRR for close to 3 years. This place is extremely well run and puts the care and comfort of its residence first. The staff are very kind and empathetic and this approach is seen at every level of the organization. From the ownership to the facility support person the residents are the number one priority. This last year during the pandemic has been extremely difficult for all seniors homes but I’m happy to say my mom and her fellow residents have been kept safe and healthy throughout the ordeal. SRR follows protocols to the letter but is also innovative in delivering the enrichment activities and services that are so important to the well being of the residents. We would recommend SRR without reservation to anyone looking at moving into this residence.
I've made many friends here. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.
It's loaded with things to do: learn how to paint a picture, join a party and have some fun ... it has everything!
There are many things that keep me busy here [including] exercise, entertainment, games and trips.
My grandfather lives here and we love to visit him here.
