The benefits of respite care in a Brampton retirement home
Over-taxed caregivers get a break. Family caregivers tend to overdo it, giving too much, out of the goodness of their hearts. If you take a break from caregiving, you’ll come back fresh. You’ll be better at it, more patient, and more energized.
A comfortable, often clinical setting is the right place for respite. Some retirement homes have doctors on call, many have nursing staff, and all have care staff on hand. Health services are available and in some cases medical equipment, in a setting designed for seniors’ optimal comfort. It’s hard to imagine better care for your loved one.
Get professional care tips. If your loved one has dementia, you can view professional care staff in action. In retirement homes with memory care, staff are often trained in techniques such as gentle persuasion or virtual dementia care. You’ll learn from them how to deal with negative behaviours associated with Alzheimer's Disease or other forms of dementia.
