How to find the best Brampton retirement home for you

Families in Brampton face a wide selection of options in senior care, so you want to make the right decision in choosing assisted living facilities, where your loved one will be living for the foreseeable future. Here’s a look at the issues you face, with some quick advice. Find richer advice throughout our site, or linked below.

Proximity. You don’t want to make your decision based only on location. It's tempting to pick a community close to your home or convenient for family visits. However, you want to also mind the care available and costs, along with other factors, then decide which community best meets your needs. When you look further afield you may be surprised at the value or quality of some options. If you live in Brampton proper, you may find the perfect retirement residence in Bramalea or Churchville. You can use our site to find senior assisted living communities throughout the GTA

Excellence in care and facilities. The quality of each community has different aspects to it. This can include the newness of the facilities, the variety of features (such as a swimming pool, variety of lounges, etc.), the extensiveness of in-house programs, and the professionalism and qualifications of care staff. So, bear in mind, to not be dazzled (for example) by the newness of facilities when it may be that the community is understaffed in some areas.

Cost.  Of course, not all families can afford the best assisted senior living care, as much as you want the very best for the one you love. You can play around with the budget that you do have by taking advantage of benefits for caregivers and taking a close look at how to pay for senior care. Work within your budget and work together as a family. When your loved one moves into senior care and they experience revitalization, this can be very rewarding. We survey the costs of assisted living in Brampton below.

Alternatives closely related to assisted living

Home care offers you versatility. Assistance with activities of daily living can be purchased from home care agencies in Brampton, of course. You can also choose to move into independent living in Brampton then hire your own home care targeted at just the services you or your loved one requires. Moving into an independent living community can be less expensive, and there may be more options.

Continuing care communities cover your bases. On another hand, consider the value offered by continuing care communities in the GTA. This is an ideal option in at least two different situations:

Moving into assisted living is part of the ongoing journey you are taking as a family. We wish you all the best: may you find great joy in making a wise decision for your family. We know this can be very difficult. Find more detailed advice in our ebooks.

Cost of assisted living in Brampton

Below, we provide a survey of costs and fees associated with assisted living, as taken from communities that are currently accepting new clients.

Starting cost/mo

What's included

$4300

Meals and housekeeping, with all personal care options included, except incontinence care (available for an extra fee).

$4420

Basic dining, housekeeping, and daily tidy. Support for many medical conditions including cancer and strokes. Many types of assistance (feeding, bathing, transfer, and incontinence) are included.

$4961

Basic dining, housekeeping, and many options in personal care, including dressing assistance, bathing assistance, and medication administration. More delicate personal care like incontinence care will be an added cost.

As you see above, not all homes are equal, and fees are not necessarily based on the care that you will need. Some communities may be more expensive due to their location (variations in real estate prices affect the fees you will be paying for assisted living) or to other features within the community (that you may or may not want). On the other hand, some communities may be cheaper for the wrong reasons.

Deep consideration of the value you are getting when you move into assisted living is part of the reason why it is a good idea to think about this decision ahead of time and research your care options as deeply as possible.
