Symphony Senior Living is ideal for seniors from throughout the Ottawa Region looking for a community that is affordably priced. There's easy access to the community from Highway 174, making visits stress-free for family from anywhere in Ottawa (or even further away). When discussing life here, residents highlight the caring staff.
Chartwell New Edinburgh Square is a classy, upscale, well-organized retirement residence in the heart of Beechwood Village, with shops and services part of the community. The vibrancy just outside the door is matched inside, where there’s an extensive list of amenities. There’s an emphasis on space throughout, and seniors who move here will truly find room to grow.
My grandmother has lived at Symphony for 5+ years now. The residents are amazing... The residents and Bob (maintenance staff) are the real heart of Symphony. Since his arrival, Bob has been working tirelessly... One of the residents (Pierette) volunteers to organize things like bingo and pizza for the independent buildings. Thank goodness for her! The residents consistently check up on each other, to ensure that each other is in good health and spirits. Such a lovely bunch of people. Thank you to everyone who makes Symphony a community!
We were nervous about moving mom to assisted living during covid. Would she be safe? Would she be lonely? We are so pleased with the outcome. Symphonies has gone to great lengths to keep its residents safe while providing great activities to keep them busy and happy. Mom's health is much better now because she eats well, has plenty of exercise and is surrounded by a very kind and helpful staff.
I don't think the administration knows just how wonderful their staff is. You have Rose's, a real gem of a nurse. She goes way beyond being efficient and loving to my mom. I text her photos of moms great-grandchildren and she shows mom the photos. I put my mom in Symphony just after the first lockdown. We had already secured the apartment and some furniture was in place. Then covid hit and we kept her out until July. The administration handle all those frighten families, the contracts and payments put on hold indefinitely. They were strict but fair. A special thank you goes to Jodi Davidson. I doubt anyone could fill those shoes and to Sandra Parent, totally professional! My mom loves it there. I love her being there. As much as I loved taking care of my mom, I will be forever grateful for my freedom.
My father has been with Symphony Senior Living for over 12 years. Initially he was in the Independent Living building and only recently moved to the main building to join their Assisted Living community. It has been a pleasure to deal with all of the staff there to make his stay so comfortable. They are truly hard working and a dedicated team that have managed to keep everyone entertained and safe during these challenging times of Covid-19. I applaud them all for a job well done and look forward to their continued success.
In September 2020, my dad ended up in the hospital for an extended period and was quite weak upon release. Mom could not take care of him so I moved them into assisted living at Symphony Orleans. When making inquiries, staff were very helpful and answered a lot of my emails even late into the evenings. Jodi and Theleah were quite helpful with the transition from Independent to Assisted. The move occurred during Covid therefore the 2-week quarantine was very difficult on my parents. As well, the fact that they were not allowed to leave the building to go on walks, or have visitors, has taken a tole on them. Nonetheless, they have met people and seemed to have made friends. I am very happy to see all the posts by Symphony Orleans staff of the residents and the many activities they share. The medical staff is also excellent as they take care of my parents’ now that I cannot and, during these difficult covid times, they keep me updated on my parents’ health. Great community.
NES has everything going for it! The location is situated a stones throw from the metro, the pharmacy, a variety of coffee shops, bookstore and banking. The staff are accommodating, thoughtful and caring. The caring attitude extends beyond the resident to include family and friends. The manager, Brendan King has been very forthcoming and helpful meeting the special needs of my brother in law. They have a variety of daily activities for all to enjoy. The meals include a delicious variety and the open cafe is a great hub for social engagement. We were very happy with NES while my mother in law lived there for years. The medical staff were attentive and reassuring. Now her son, my brother in law is very happy living there. He’s happy to call this his home and his family.
My mother moved to NES a few years ago and she is enjoying the lifestyle. The members of the staff are friendly and accommodating as they seek to respond to the residents' needs. A good variety of daily activities and outings are available to the residents. Recently, the team helped us celebrate my mother's birthday in the banquet hall. We were able to select the menu choices and the food was beautifully prepared. We look forward to many more celebrations!
Moved my Mom here in March. Great location: clean and well maintained. Terrific staff from top to bottom: customer service, maintenance, food services, nursing…everyone is friendly, caring and attentive. A big thank you to the team at Chartwell NES!
This is an exceptional retirement residence in every way. The facilities are sparkling clean and safe, with tons of spaces for residents to explore and relax, and lots of activities. The staff are so caring and attentive. Great central location too, with lots of walking and shopping opportunities in Beechwood Village.
I'm writing on behalf of my mother-in-law, who moved into the residence early in the new year. She is happy with the suite and feels safe and secure. The staff is very courteous and competent, and quite proactive at anticipating her needs. The food is excellent with many choices.

Chartwell New Edinburgh Square derives its name from the vibrant New Edinburgh neighbourhood it calls home. Bordered on the west by the Rideau River, to the north by the Ottawa River, to the south by Beechwood Avenue and on the east by Princess Avenue, our neighbourhood is a walker’s paradise and perfect for people who enjoy the outdoors or have a dog. Residents of Chartwell New Edinburgh Square benefit from direct access to a number of convenient amenities located in the same building as our retirement residence—such as The Scone Witch and Clocktower Brew Pub—with many more located on Beechwood Avenue, including banks, grocery stores, pharmacies, boutiques, cafés and restaurants. The Rideau River is a block away, and we are also nearby Stanley Park. Downtown Ottawa—with its arts and cultural attractions, historic buildings and fine and casual dining choices—is a short 10-minute drive away.
