There are many exceptional aspects of this retirement community, including the depth and variety of care offered, the cleanliness and newness of the residence and its suites, and the helpful, professional staff. Its unique location along the Ottawa River in the quiet suburb of Orleans makes the Promenade an exceptional offering for families searching for Ottawa seniors' care. For example, the serenity of the wooded courtyard, facing the river, adds an extra dimension of excellence to this community.
Symphony Senior Living is ideal for seniors from throughout the Ottawa Region looking for a community that is affordably priced. There's easy access to the community from Highway 174, making visits stress-free for family from anywhere in Ottawa (or even further away). When discussing life here, residents highlight the caring staff.
Beautiful well well-maintained retirement living with friendly helpful staff.
Our parents [have been] at the Promenade Retirement Residence since early 2016. Our experience was really good throughout their whole stay - their suite was comfortable, the team has always been supportive and caring, and the ambiance friendly and sociable. The whole team, including the kitchen and serving, maintenance, housekeeping and concierge, management and reception, and social activities teams were always pleasant with us and willing to lend a hand when needed. As our parents’ needs increased, the transition to the high care floor was managed well under exceptional circumstances. The nursing staff and care teams were wonderful - they were friendly, attentive, respectful, and took very good care of both as they needed more help. As a family, we were able to keep them together and avoid long term care. We are grateful for that and very happy for the decision that we, and our parents, made nearly five years ago.
I've been living at the Promenade Senior Residence for about three and a half years now. It all started in June/ 2017... My daughter had to look for a Residence for me to live in, so since I was an old nurse I had started to work in a Residence where my Aunt was and loved. They made me the Activity Coordinator and I loved being there and talking about how good it was. So Cathy found one with the same benefits as I had bragged about…! Just to show you just how they are I fell in my room last week and split my forehead, and made a terrible mess. The nurses and even a Doctor who was visiting came to check on me, send me to the hospital, and [taking] care of my dog. And, Oh yes, they allow dogs and cats and I'M almost sure other reasonable one as well... I really love this place.
The staff are excellent. The activity manager... organizes every kind of activity you could ever want ... We go to active fitness twice a week [and] physio twice a week.... we're busy!<
When my father was diagnosed with a rapidly progressive form of dementia in addition to his aggressive cancer, we were devastated.... I had visited a few places in Ottawa for him and there was always something that brought me back to Promenade... The staff is exceptional and always professional ... I am truly blessed to have found such and amazing place staffed with the most fantastic people I've ever met.
My grandmother has lived at Symphony for 5+ years now. The residents are amazing... The residents and Bob (maintenance staff) are the real heart of Symphony. Since his arrival, Bob has been working tirelessly... One of the residents (Pierette) volunteers to organize things like bingo and pizza for the independent buildings. Thank goodness for her! The residents consistently check up on each other, to ensure that each other is in good health and spirits. Such a lovely bunch of people. Thank you to everyone who makes Symphony a community!
We were nervous about moving mom to assisted living during covid. Would she be safe? Would she be lonely? We are so pleased with the outcome. Symphonies has gone to great lengths to keep its residents safe while providing great activities to keep them busy and happy. Mom's health is much better now because she eats well, has plenty of exercise and is surrounded by a very kind and helpful staff.
I don't think the administration knows just how wonderful their staff is. You have Rose's, a real gem of a nurse. She goes way beyond being efficient and loving to my mom. I text her photos of moms great-grandchildren and she shows mom the photos. I put my mom in Symphony just after the first lockdown. We had already secured the apartment and some furniture was in place. Then covid hit and we kept her out until July. The administration handle all those frighten families, the contracts and payments put on hold indefinitely. They were strict but fair. A special thank you goes to Jodi Davidson. I doubt anyone could fill those shoes and to Sandra Parent, totally professional! My mom loves it there. I love her being there. As much as I loved taking care of my mom, I will be forever grateful for my freedom.
My father has been with Symphony Senior Living for over 12 years. Initially he was in the Independent Living building and only recently moved to the main building to join their Assisted Living community. It has been a pleasure to deal with all of the staff there to make his stay so comfortable. They are truly hard working and a dedicated team that have managed to keep everyone entertained and safe during these challenging times of Covid-19. I applaud them all for a job well done and look forward to their continued success.
In September 2020, my dad ended up in the hospital for an extended period and was quite weak upon release. Mom could not take care of him so I moved them into assisted living at Symphony Orleans. When making inquiries, staff were very helpful and answered a lot of my emails even late into the evenings. Jodi and Theleah were quite helpful with the transition from Independent to Assisted. The move occurred during Covid therefore the 2-week quarantine was very difficult on my parents. As well, the fact that they were not allowed to leave the building to go on walks, or have visitors, has taken a tole on them. Nonetheless, they have met people and seemed to have made friends. I am very happy to see all the posts by Symphony Orleans staff of the residents and the many activities they share. The medical staff is also excellent as they take care of my parents’ now that I cannot and, during these difficult covid times, they keep me updated on my parents’ health. Great community.
