Oakcrossing has quickly built a reputation for excellence, offering the highest quality retirement living in a state-of the art residence. Those who have moved here have quickly come to love their new life. Family members also appreciate the care available and the quality of the amenities here. Oakcrossing is a response to the needs of today's senior who want a place that will completely transform life. You'll cherish the new life you find in a community of friendly, engaged peers.
The Village of Glendale Crossing creates a good-natured community made up of both seniors and staff. The care and nursing staff here get an especially high grade for “going that extra mile” as part of their daily routine. With the opening of Phase 3 in 2023, The Village became a fuller, more vibrant community that benefits strongly from Schlegel’s town square layout and other features. Friends meet each other throughout the building, and a lively daily activities schedule further enhances the social life.
My mom moved into Oakcrossing this summer and right away, with the help of the wonderful staff she felt at home. The building and grounds are lovely. Clean, warm and inviting. There are so many activities to keep the residents busy: bus trips, crafts, games, social time and the food, I’m told, is great! The staff is always helpful, they have taken the time to get to know my mom, and are always willing to help me out with questions, as we navigate mom’s new adventure. This was a great decision, for our family.
My family were delighted with the outstanding care and support our Mother received when it became evident that she was unable to remain on her own. Oakcrossing made the transition from hospital to their facility a seamless and drama-free experience at a heightened time of sensitivity. Our Mother loved the food, her spacious and modern one bedroom suite but above all, the caring and empathetic staff. To them, she was not just another resident but a member of the Oakcrossing family. I would highly recommend Oakcrossing as a top level option for retirement living.
Having moved my Dad into Oakcrossing in September 2021 we are so thankful and pleased at this amazing facility. The staff is top notch, and I would love to name them all and give them a shout out, there are so many amazing people that work here I would be afraid of missing someone. I can't always visit due to distance, Oakcrossing makes it easy with an option for virtual visits which they set up completely, making it foolproof with my technology challenged Dad. There are lots of common spaces, and a variety of activities and events and my dad picks what he enjoys doing. He raves about the food and comments often "you will never starve here" LOL. He often comments how amazing and friendly the staff are. My Dad is honestly loving this facility and that is the greatest gift to family members, peace of mind, for those who worry about the health and happiness of an elderly loved one.
We moved here for the sake of my husband, John. He was in assisted living here for a while, then transferred to long-term care when a room opened up. I could just go down the hallway over to the other building. And I could see that he had very good care over there, too. It was a godsend, really ... The staff are wonderful. All very helpful. All wonderful. You just have to ask ... It's a wonderful community. Everybody here is friends. It's interesting, because we often find out we have connections and things in common even though we didn't know each other.
The food here is superior. It's a lot of little things that make a big difference. We've had some new people coming in, just for a lunch, and they told us, “we can't believe the chatting you folks do!†But that's how it is here. Everyone accepts you the way you were. There's no people up here or down there, it's all the same, no matter what your experience was, we're all the same.
It's the best!
My husband and I moved into Glendale Crossing retirement residence on February 15, 2024. Our son Jerry checked it out after I had suffered a stroke in Dec 2023 and was in Rehabilitation at Parkwood. He described Glendale as walking into a resort hotel and after a tour and meeting with the staff, he was convinced this was the best place for us. We couldn’t be happier or more content here at Glendale. It provides so much for the residents. Music, games all kinds of activities and outings. We have exercise, hairdresser, massage therapist, and our doctor to mention just a few of our amenities. Thank you Glendale and thank you also for the very friendly staff and also the wonderful residents we have made friends with.
We received the warmest welcome from Monika. The residence is beautiful, open & bright. My dad was thrilled as this was not what he was not expecting. He has been living in a 1 bedroom apartment for 5 months. He opted for lunch & dinner to be included. He feeds the fish in the back pond every morning and walks to nearby stores & around the neighbourhood. He can often be seen working at a puzzle in the games room where he has met some wonderful people. We couldn’t be happier for him.
I want to express my sincere gratitude to the village of Glendale Crossing for creating such a lovely place for seniors to live. The thought and care that went into every detail Is evident the moment that you step in the lobby. It’s clear that the well-being and happiness is of their residents was at the forefront of their vision. And while the facility is absolutely beautiful, it’s the kind, compassionate, and dedicated staff that make Glendale Crossing, an exceptional place to live. I’m deeply grateful for the care and attention they provide every day. Thank you for making this a place that I can truly call my home.
It is a wonderful facility. The staff went above and beyond to help me.

Our Village is a proud part of a Canadian family tradition of community building that goes back 70 years. The first Schlegel family home became the foundation of what Schlegel Villages is today. Here at The Village of Glendale Crossing , we offer several lifestyle options to meet a variety of needs. Our continuum of care allows for residents to age with us in place as their needs change. The residents we serve come from a range of backgrounds that thread together the fabric of our community, and while we know resident-centredness is a term that many lean on these days, we truly do focus on each individual’s wishes to guide our approach to service. Our Signature Programs help us focus on the individuality of each resident we serve. Our LIVING in My Today dementia care philosophy, for example, was developed by our team and our partners alongside people with lived experience. This provides our team the opportunity to learn exactly what it means to support a person who is experiencing the changing perceptions of dementia. We also celebrate the Wisdom of the Elder as another Signature Program, thanks to the inspiration of our founder Ron Schlegel. Ron once said: “The greatest untapped resource in Canada, if not the world, is the collective wisdom of our elders,” and we honour the individual and collective wisdom of those we serve in ways large and small.
