How we see Wild Rose
Under the leadership of Optima Retirement Living, this community has generated enthusiastic reception from families and seniors. Optima’s high standards of excellence and dedication are apparent across its communities. Recent positive feedback for this community from both seniors and families is par for the course. The ethos of Optima is to create a truly home-like environment reflected in the company’s credo, “let us welcome you home.” That’s amply manifest here.
Wild Rose is a cosy, intimate, traditional community, unique among retirement homes in the city of Edmonton. That intimacy creates a warm, personal environment in which management and staff are exceptionally attentive to the needs of residents, as well as family members. Those who appreciate clear, authentic communication will find that at Wild Rose.
Another noteworthy aspect of this community is the excellent dining. It puts delight in every day when you can sit down to carefully prepared cuisine that’s wholesome and nutritious. When others are taking care of your basic needs, you can take up interests and passions you may not have realized you enjoy, or have simply been putting off. To experience the reinvigoration available at Wild Rose, you really need to move in for yourself.

It is my pleasure to welcome you home to Wild Rose. As the General Manager, it is my goal to ensure the safety and well-being of all our residents, staff, family, and visitors. I was born and raised in Edmonton, and as a young child, I was always in the kitchen, learning how to cook and bake. That passion led me to pursue a career in Food Service and Nutrition Management. After a few years in that industry, I discovered my compassion for being with seniors, and found my true passion was to serve others!
Over the last 28 years, I have worked in the continuing care industry in various roles, including management and health and safety. I have a strong understanding of the resident service-based culture of excellence and strive to ensure the well-being of all around me. Nothing makes me happier than building strong relationships, so when am I not working, you will find me with my family and friends. I also love outdoor walks or hikes, camping, and reading, and I have been known to dabble in cake decorating. I am happy to be supporting Wild Rose and would like to welcome you home!

Maya Angelou once said, “Try to be a rainbow in someone else’s cloud.” It feels like it is a rather apt reminder as we continue to navigate the pandemic. While we remember to wash our hands, protect ourselves, and respect others, there are also ways in which we can focus on bringing hope and laughter to our community. Let us live with hope and zest for life even while enduring the challenges set before us. We must continue to stay focused on best practises, express gratitude to the caregivers and frontline workers, and above all continue to live in hope and look for ways to “be a rainbow in someone else’s cloud.”
Alberta remains under a state of public health emergency. New Public Health restrictions came into effect starting September 16th to reduce the spread and protect our health care system. Businesses participating in the Restrictions Exemption Program will require patrons or clients to be vaccinated or to show a recent negative test result. Recently, British Columbia announced that it will mandate that all healthcare workers be vaccinated for COVID-19 by October 31st, 2021. British Columbia also announced a Vaccination Passport System, and starting October 12th, all visitors to long-term care and assisted-living facilities will need to show proof they have received at least one dose.
