Our Perspective

How we see Chelsea Park

Among Vancouver retirement homes, Chelsea Park is a uniquely homey, comfortable environment offering striking value for anyone 55 and older. It’s a boutique-style retirement community, less formal than some other retirement residences, but with much of the vibrancy you’ll find in more expensive communities. With respect to the activities and amenities, you’ll find everything you need to make days complete.

Set foot in Chelsea Park, and the first thing you hear will likely be laughter. It’s a special place where residents are comfortable and genuine with each other. The emphasis here is on coziness. You’ll find home-cooked meals and afternoon tea parties are an important part of life. For such an affordable community, the list of activities is extensive. There are outings, live entertainment, Bingo, tennis and golf, gardening clubs, card games, exercise classes... and the list goes on.

Just outside the community you’ll also find some wonderful features. Expansive Trout Lake park is right across the street, with a variety of walking trails and even a beach. There’s a community center there, and down the street on Commercial Drive/Victoria Drive there’re a variety of shops. You can live a full life here, and we might argue that Chelsea Park offers some of the best value we’ve seen in a retirement home.

Community’s Perspective

How Chelsea Park sees itself

Who are you as a community?

A boutique residence with a homelike ambience where you can enjoy your independence while receiving quality hospitality services from our caring staff. A BC Seniors Living Association 'Seal of Approval' recipient since 2011, Chelsea Park is Seniors housing offering intimate, well designed, comfortable and affordable living for Seniors. You will not find a better setting for Seniors who want to enjoy the benefits of a total community where everyone belongs. 1 bedroom suites ready for immediate occupancy. Rents starting at $3,200 per month. Our all in price includes: - lunch - dinner - hydro - cable TV - weekly housekeeping - weekly linen laundry service - 24-hour emergency response system - scheduled recreational programs and events

What do you do differently or uniquely well?

Since we are a non-profit society the rental price per suite is amongst the lowest for the same services offered by either non-profit or for profit organizations. The Society started in the 50's to house returning war vets. Over the last 70+ years we have maintained this commitment to offer superior non-profit housing. Our motto is "HOUSING WITH HEART", and we believe it!!

What supports do you offer residents as they adjust to life there?

Our facility gives seniors a lifestyle free from the worries of home maintenance in a beautiful secure setting. Our team is there to answer any and all questions to make move in as stress free as possible. Our goal is to handle all issues so you can spend more time doing the things you love and being with the people you love.

How are residents supported if their needs change?

Chelsea Park has not responded to this question yet.

Under what conditions would you advise someone against choosing your community?

Chelsea Park has not responded to this question yet.

What might residents find surprising about your community?

Besides the beautiful facility, location and the services we offer, one of the strengths of Chelsea Park is the staff. You will not find a more caring, committed staff who work hard so you don't have to. As well, our residents genuinely care and look out for each other. A word of caution, the weekly indoor bocce game can get competitive!

How will your community change in the next five years?

Chelsea Park has not responded to this question yet.

What five facts about your community should people know?

Chelsea Park is located right next door to John Hendry Park, beautiful Trout Lake and the Trout Lake Community Centre. We are in a quiet residential community, yet desirable location because of our proximity to retail stores, community services and nearby transportation links to Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.

Reviews of Chelsea Park

What residents and their loved ones say about Chelsea Park in reviews.

Patrick Buchannon, family member

"We are very proud of the Chelsea Park staff and the warm and caring community that they have created in this small spot near Trout Lake Park."

Peter, family member

"Thanks so much for the care you and your team gave to my mother while at Chelsea Park. I was not expecting such a great experience. We looked at the places that charge double the cost of your facility does so we were expecting to lower our expectations since we could not afford the other places. But much to our surprise you were so much better than we could’ve ever experienced at any other place, simply the best. I think it is because of your genuine care and attention to my mother and all o..."

Tannis Delaney, resident

"If you want a friendly place, not too formal, this is the greatest place to be. I would never want to go anywhere else. I would recommend this to anyone. I would recommend it to anyone. "

General Manager's Message
Darryl Lucas

Chelsea Park is the solution for active seniors seeking more support with daily living while maintaining their independence. Chelsea Park provides seniors with a home that will grant them independence, safe social surroundings, nourishment, and assistance with their daily living needs. Even though they will have their own personal living accommodations, staff and a home environment will be just outside their door ensuring that their physical and mental well-being is maintained. Residents will interact with others at meal and activity times ensuring that there will be opportunities to forge new friendships.

As well as the many benefits living at Chelsea Park provides, we also celebrate many other events such as:

  • Birthdays
  • Mother's Day
  • Father's day
  • Robbie Burns
  • Valentine's Day
  • Easter
  • St Patrick's Day
  • Aboriginal Day
  • Canada Day
  • BC Day
  • Labour Day
  • Truth and Reconciliation
  • Halloween
  • Remembrance Day
  • Christmas
  • New Year's Day

No matter who we work with, our primary goal is to provide everyone with safe, clean, affordable housing at reasonable rates. To us, housing with heart means being more than just a non-profit housing society or a landlord. It means caring about everyone that lives at Chelsea Park. COVID-19 Information

Chelsea Park has been COVID-free since the start-up of the pandemic in early 2020 thanks to our dedicated staff and very cooperative residents and their loving families.
Everyone at Chelsea Park has been doubled vaccinated. We do have visitor restrictions/rules about entering the building if you are sick or have been in contact with anyone who has been sick, and a COVID assessment check list asking about travel and symptoms for all visitors and staff. Visitors are required to wear masks when entering the building and in all common areas and all residents and staff are continuing to wear masks in all of our common areas. Our activities have started up again and everyone has returned to the dining room which makes us all happy.
Our Staff are diligently cleaning and sanitizing all common areas and touch surfaces many times a day. We receive information weekly and sometimes daily from the Ministry of Health and BC Seniors Living Association as to how to proceed and we are following the guidelines and regulations set in place by the Provincial Ministry of Health for Long Term Care and Assisted Living Residences.
We also provide updates and reminders for our residents to keep everyone on track in remaining safe and contributing to the solution.
