Our Perspective

How we see Berwick On The Lake

Berwick Retirement creates some of the most beautiful communities in BC, many at some of the most attractive waterfront locations in the province. There’s something to be said for the revitalization value of living in a location like Berwick on the Lake. It really does “impress on every level” and we’re hard-pressed to isolate factors to highlight, but the location, care, and dining here are certainly a few.

Berwick on the Lake is like living in a five star hotel, one where you are served on a daily basis by staff that goes above and beyond. Tour the community and you’ll see staff members genuinely enjoying the interactions they have with residents. Staff here has a reputation for promptly responding to requests for help. Family members and residents acclaim the depth of attention that staff give to those in their care.

The dining here is superb fare daily, prepared by red seal chefs. Food is prepared using fresh ingredients, and the shared meals tend to be lively experiences involving both staff and residents. There’s a games room and a library that people enjoy, while the lakefront location creates a palpably chill vibe. Nearby there are all the conveniences you’ll ever need. After moving here, seniors find that they have many connections with others. One more noteworthy aspect of this community is the continuum of care available here. It’s an ideal solution for couples with varying care needs.

Reviews of Berwick On The Lake

What residents and their loved ones say about Berwick On The Lake in reviews.

Beth Paton, resident

"The food is really wonderful. We have two choices everyday for both lunch and dinner. There’s a pub which is a little less formal. And the bistro is a third eating area, where you can ‘help yourself.’

I wanted to come here because I had back and leg problems. Standing up to prepare meals was hard. We were eating more prepared meals and that sort of thing. I like not having to think about what we’re having, then to stand up and prepare it. It was a big enough job to cook for ..."

Lauren Young, family member

"My mother has lived at Berwick for a year. It is a gorgeous facility located on a picturesque lake. Unlike other Senior facilities, that have a very contrived, sterile atmosphere, Berwick feels like a classy Inn with a friendly atmosphere. The interior design of Berwick is exceptional. The food is excellent. I especially like the Bistro feature where you can have meals prepared by a chef. They are scrumptious and every bit as good as a high quality restaurant. The staff are friendly and there is..."

Collette MacAskill, family member

"Would highly recommend Berwick on the Lake for respite care on the Brio Intermediate Care unit. Berwick is a beautiful facility right on the Lake with the most beautiful views, gardens, and the entire facility is lovely! Dining Room staff were great and the food usually was excellent. Brio Unit is filled with very caring and nurturing health care aids and some excellent LPNs. My father had high intensity and complex needs as a palliative and end stage renal failure patient. Having RNs on staff w..."
