The Dunfield is ideal for residents of the city who want to stay close to where the action is, or to family in the downtown core. You'll find happy new neighbours and friends at The Dunfield. In a city full of exceptional seniors' residences, the Dunfield rises higher. It remains a benchmark in high quality senior living in Downtown Toronto.
From its inception, The Dunfield has proposed to reach new heights in retirement living in the city of Toronto. In the years since, it has succeeded remarkably well, not only in its well-appointed facilities but in the seniors' community it has facilitated. It's in a prime location, near the corner of Yonge and Eglinton, matched by first rate amenities and features, including a spa, movie theatre, wellness centre and so much more.
One of the best things about the Dunfield is the sense of community created by shared activities both inside and out. Residents take day trips to the theatre, casino, shopping, and art galleries. In addition, a big part of residents’ life is the collection of in-house activities: a lecture series with local authors, visiting chefs, art classes, and so much more. This is one of several exceptional Toronto retirement residences that improves the health and well-being of members, beginning the moment they walk in the door.

My 85 year old Father moved into the Dunfield Residence November 2021. This was a very stressful time for him as he was leaving a toxic relationship and sadly leaving behind his beloved rescue animals. Catherine and the staff at the Dunfield made his transition incredibly smooth and positive. Since he has been at the Dunfield he has literally thrived. He has not been this happy or healthy for years! It took a little time but now he is participating in exercise and activities virtually everyday. He told me recently that this was the best thing he could have done. He loves all of the staff and they treat him with such respect and kindness. Many of the other residence have reached out to him for lunch and dinner dates. I cannot say enough positive things about the Dunfield, it should be on top of your list if you are looking for an excellent living situation for yourself or your loved ones. P.S. he has since rescued a senior cat which is also allowed at his new lovely home!
My father has been living at the Dunfield Retirement Residence for a few years and we have been extremely pleased with the residence in all aspects of the building, facilities, staff, restaurant and administration. The general manager, James, is consistently supportive and helpful, doing whatever he can to meet our needs and address our questions/requests. The staff is friendly, inviting and helpful. We feel that our father is in excellent hands at the Dunfield and would recommend this residence to anyone looking for a place for their loved one.
I have been a resident at The Dunfield for eleven years. The building is elegant, bright, cheerful and well maintained. The management and staff are the best! They know your name and make you feel at home in very short order. I love the food and you are not compelled to always sit at the same table at the same time. Residents needing extra care have access to special accommodation and the nursing station. I enjoy the activities. There is a gym, pool, theatre, multipurpose room for concerts, lectures and exercise classes all by a very competent activity team. You can choose any, all or none of these activities. My hobby is photography, and like others with gardening or painting, these activities are promoted. l like the fact that my family is reassured that I am in an enjoyable, comfortable and very secure environment.
The Dunfield cares so much about mom and about all of us. The people are wonderful, the management, the office staff, the PSW's, the nurses, the serving staff at the restaurants and the cleaners and maintenance teams. EVERYONE treats mom and us like family. They care about tiny needs and major things. It is always clean and safe and so family friendly. It is an incredible location, a wonderful environment and a very special place to spend time. AND, the food is great in the restaurants. Worth the investment for a very happy and loving residence for mom and for our family time when we visit.
My parents moved to the Dunfield 7 years ago. It has been their home where they have welcomed family and friends and celebrated many special occasions. The dining room quickly became our family's favourite gathering place. Sadly, our father died this past winter at the Dunfield of old age (91). With Ontario public health's Covid-19 restrictions in place, this was an extraordinarily challenging time but I want to thank the ENTIRE Dunfield staff for their tireless efforts, their remarkable care and kindness in helping my parents and family navigate the necessary lockdowns and restricted visitor policies. On a brighter note, for 6 years our family gatherings in the dining room were numerous and it is very nice that a few of us can once again gather and enjoy a meal with our mom in the Alcove. Mom has good friends at the Dunfield, a testament to her but also the other wonderful residents who help make the Dunfield a warm, friendly, caring and special place to live.
Moving in during COVID was a challenge but everyone here was so helpful. We were isolated but the world was isolated, so we didn’t feel we were missing much. They’re very careful … the goals are very high, and they achieve them.
The management is wonderful as far as I’m concerned … very intensely focused on what they are supposed to be doing in a retirement residence. Staff here are magnificent. It’s the most outstanding feature here and probably the most important.
The Dunfield offers us a chance to be part of a community of like-minded people from all walks of life. The residents enjoy sharing their life experiences, which makes life more interesting.
My father and mother have been staying at the Dunfield for years. It's definitely one of the best retirement homes in the city. Beautiful Dining room for get-togethers with the entire family. If you can stay there you will love it.
I'm happy to call the Dunfield home.
The staff [here] are second to none, and are always there to ensure that every resident has their needs attended to. According to my Grandfather it is 'like living at the Royal York Hotel.'
