It's easy to make a great new life for yourself at Hawthorn Park. You'll often hear laughter coming from throughout the building. The community environment facilitates the formation of new, caring relationships and a renewed love of life.
Hawthorn Park is at the top of the list of retirement homes in Kelowna proper. A number of things about this community make it outstanding: the personalization of each suite, fantastic features inside and out, and its care for dementia sufferers. The suites here are some of the most reasonably priced we have seen for a community of this quality.
When the time comes and you know you have to move, Hawthorn Park allows you to create a new life for yourself, to start over from where you are. You'll find great new friendships with people your own age. There's always just enough to do, no matter who you are or what you like: card games on the patio, yoga classes, or just a chat over coffee. The community is especially nicely decorated throughout -- just one more aspect that facilitates happiness of residents.
One of the nicest things about this community is the amount of flexibility that residents have. This begins with the way residents are able to personalize suites with whatever they want to bring with them from home. Residents also love that they can plant their own choice of flowers in their balcony gardens. At meals you always have a choice between at least two entrees.

Excellent care. The people are wonderful.
Hawthorn has a positive and friendly vibe. The staff are always open and helpful; they are responsive to requests and take the initiative to convey any concerns they may have about our loved one.
The atmosphere created by staff at Hawthorn is reflected in their residents - people are friendly and seem to mingle well. The activities arranged by staff are creative - there always seems to be a few things Dad joins in on. It’s a great place.
My Mom recently moved in to Hawthorn Park and has not looked back since! The entire staff have gone above and beyond to ensure that she is settling in and feels welcome. The food is delicious, activities and outings are plenty, and the residents are friendly and open to meeting new friends. My Mom is blossoming and enjoying her days surrounded by people, socializing and in a safe and secure environment, and free of the worries of home ownership and all that comes with it. Much gratitude to Alyssa for her work and assistance in helping us to make the change so seamless.
I am so happy with this residence. I helped move in a family member and from the first meeting, we felt they cared for and listened to us and treated us with kindness and respect. Now that my family member is settled, her needs are anticipated and if there are any concerns or suggestions they are acted on as soon as humanly possible. I would highly recommend Hawthorn Park, I believe it is the number one rated residence in Kelowna, if not the Okanagan, and I can see why.
Now that Covid is no longer a pandemic threat, Hawthorn has weathered the storm and remains vigilant to protect their residents. Our opinion of Hawthorn remains the same as this original review! All concerns are dealt with quickly and with consistent compassion.
Recently my Mom has taken residence at Hawthorn Park in Kelowna . She has settled in nicely thanks to all the wonderful professionals both Mgmt and Staff, that go out of their way to make your day great! The food is a big part of independent living and at Hawthorn the food is very good, a mix for all palates... I recommend Hawthorn as a safe and professionally run place for anyone who asks. No regrets having my Mom live at Hawthorn in Kelowna!
My mom has been at HP independent living (or supportive housing - same thing) for 3 years. Staff are very caring and friendly and helpful. The extra care and attention and communication during covid has been exemplary. The location is great - close to shopping, drs, lab, hospital, bus services etc. There is a lovely walk along the creek behind the buildings on HP property, and my mom and I also enjoy the trail in the wetland park across the street off Casorso Rd. I love the layout of the main floor with the reception desk a center of activity and a lovely sitting area. Mom says it was a tough decision to leave her condo and move to HP, but she is glad she did, and says she probably should have moved here sooner.
My Mom has been at Hawthorn for 3 years. The staff have all been very friendly and dedicated. I was impressed that they all seemed to remember her name within the first week! They have been quick to respond with assistance when needed (like misplacing hearing aids). I have been able to reach nursing staff in a timely manner if I have a concern or questions. Staff added many extras to help the residents deal with Covid as well (like concerts from the parking lot that they could watch from a balcony).
After my dad passed away in 2010, we looked at several retirement homes in Kelowna before selecting Hawthorn for my mom. She has been there for nearly 10 years and we have been very happy with our decision. The buildings are modern and very clean, the food is very good, and the staff is awesome. We are currently moving my wife's parents into Hawthorn as well!
Hawthorn has been a beautiful experience for our family and worth every penny! People go to Hawthorn to live not die. Everyone there, whether it's other residents or staff, are always welcoming. Our loved one enjoys the many activities and always has good things to say about the food. While the past year and a half has been challenging they have worked hard to insure everyone has felt safe and stayed healthy. The one thing I really like is that when visiting it doesn't smell of an Old Folks Home. Hawthorn has many things to offer the residents and in my opinion is worth every penny.
The staff at Hawthorn Park are incredible! My Mom moved in almost 2 years ago and I usually visit her 3 times a week. The staff are always kind, cheerful, helpful when I have questions or concerns about my Mom. I think their kindness is what stands out most though. Through the covid19 times, they have been so empathetic and the communication to families has been second to none! Thanks to them, I know my Mom is in the best place possible!
I am so grateful for the dedication and commitment of all the Hawthorn staff to keeping their residents safe and healthy. Right from the beginning, in March (I think) of 2020, way ahead of many other institutions, Hawthorn was ahead of the curve, putting in place restrictions to keep their residents and staff safe and healthy. I so appreciate knowing my mother is safe in your hands.
Our Mom has been a resident at HP for the past nine months and although the timing wasn't great with respect to the pandemic; she has felt very safe and comfortable in her new home and for that we are all very grateful to the management and staff at HP. You are all caring, compassionate and beautiful people who we have entrusted our loved ones well being, wellness and a sense of community. We would also like to give an extra shout out to Alyssa for facilitating Moms move and transition into HP, the lovely ladies at front reception and lastly but not least, Crystal who is truly an earth angel and the health care profession is very fortunate to have her. She is thoughtful and mindful of our Moms health issues and the needs of her little dog. Thank you for being a safe, kind, nurturing "second home" for our Mom. - The Vickers & Lazoruk families
One of the best retirement homes ... it leaves nothing to be desired.
I'm very happy with Hawthorn Park. I am independent, but it's a very safe place. My family knows I am safe and happy here.
