Gain exclusive insight into life at Berwick Parksville. Comfort Life’s reviews give you exclusive insider information.
Berwick Retirement Communities is run by Gordon Denford and son Chris whose high standards for senior living have been successfully implemented in seven other beautiful communities across BC. Berwick Parksville builds on that experience and tradition and takes things to a new level in Canada’s “retirement capital.” The exterior design itself is very contemporary, inspired by white sandy beaches. There’s copious outdoor space and a coffee shop nearby. The waters of the Strait of Georgia are visible straight down Weld Street.
Inside, though, you’ll find a lively community where seniors tend to be a little younger than usual. There’s something for everyone, ranging from an art studio—where residents can explore painting, clay or beading—to a putting green. The indoor theatre is spacious, with a stage and a green room. It helps the community extend well beyond the walls of the building. There are performances from local schools, speakers, and musicians..
People here treat this as a new beginning. The lifestyle apparent here brings senior living to a new level of luxury and lifestyle. The dining, too, is exceptional. There are no set dining times. People can eat at their leisure. Red Seal executive chefs prepare fare. It’s like a cruise ship on land—minus the seasickness.
Finally, two things make Berwick Parksville truly great. The sixth-floor rooftop patio has 360-degree views of the ocean, the mountains and downtown Parksville. The staff here tops it all off; watch them in action and you'll see that they love people and love to make a difference in their lives.

My mom (Joan Power) was one of the first residents to move into this beautiful facility in Parksville when it opened last July (2022). ALL the staff go above and beyond and the facility itself is so beautiful I wish I could move in. Since she moved there, she has had several health issues and has been in Brio care at Nanaimo Berwick for a short time (again, absolutely amazing staff and care) and she is now currently in the Brio at Royal Oak Berwick and it is also a very beautiful facility and incredible staff and care plus, only a 15 minute drive for me to go see her. Thank you to all the wonderful staff, aids and nurses at all three Berwick's she has been in. You all go above and beyond and you are very much appreciated 💖
Very nice and well-equipped facility. Friendly staff and good meals
My mom has just moved in there so will wait and see what her thoughts are on the new location. It's not quit finished yet but getting very close. Well thought out and planned from what I could see. First class retirement living for those who spent a lifetime working for this opportunity.
Fantastic staff. My grandma loves living here
