Why convalescence in a retirement home is better
Retirement homes are specially equipped for short stays (see below). Here’s what you can look forward to:
Help is just a call bell away. It’s the same service you’d get if you could recover in the hospital for as long as needed. At a retirement home, the staff is there to assist. In an assisted living retirement home that may include nursing and medical staff. This is much better than asking your spouse or grown children to wait on you, and you won’t be tempted to help yourself when you’re not fully recovered.
Housework and cooked meals. There’s no need to worry about cooking or cleaning up after yourself. Meals can be included as part of the service and someone else will clean the room. You just need to focus on getting better.
Experience senior living for yourself. We’ve heard from people who did a guest stay in a Mississauga retirement home and found it the liveliest place they’ve ever stayed! You get to be part of the community for the duration of your stay, take part in activities, and use the amenities. Having the company around will also lift your spirits and may even help you recover faster.
