An exceptional luxury retirement residence that supersedes all expectations of a retirement home. Spacious corridors and shared areas are highlighted by an open concept main area where there's a pub, games room and more. You'll love the thoroughly modern, well-kept interior spaces at the Westhill; it feels new everywhere.
This community began as exclusively long term care, which will still be a key part of the Village. The spectrum of options will include both assisted living and memory care. This will make it ideal for couples with different care needs to remain together in the same community, if one spouse is independent, but the other requires care. It’s also ideal for families and seniors who anticipate shifting care needs in the future. You won’t need to move again.
My Dad loves this place which is home to him.
Lovely! We think that my sister is happy with retirement residence. It is very well run.
Right from the start, I liked how bright it was. When you walk in the entrance here, it's all very welcoming. People came out from playing bingo and they welcomed me right then and there. The people here are very friendly. When I arrived I had a great resident mentor who invited me to things and got me involved in all the activities, allowing me to meet other residents. My family really enjoys their visits. My grandchildren and I have gone to exercise classes, we've enjoyed family dinners in the dining room and my daughter joins me for the theatre excursions. My children even come to the bar on Friday's to have a drink with me!
One of my favourite activities at The Westhill are brain games, they keep your mind sharp and challenged. There is always so much going on here, it's sort of like living on a cruise ship! Bank runs and The Boardwalk loop are so convenient and the staff feels like family! Without question, I would recommend The Westhill to others. It's a great place to live and my transition was so easy. Any issues are addressed immediately. If you need a lightbulb changed , you come down to the reception and they have it replaced within half a day. Little things like that add up. I'm very impressed with this Sifton company. They've been around 95 years, they know what they're doing.
Progressive, first class ... helpful and caring staff.
We had an amazing time with our mother Lein Schout for her 101 bday a great visit and dinner at the Ruby restaurant.
Beautiful residence. Great staff. Truly a village atmosphere.
The Ruby Restaurant is located on the 10th floor and has an incredible view. We all enjoyed our lunches. Salads are fresh and tasty, fish and chips were excellent and desserts delicious. Our waitress was excellent and the Chef came to introduce himself. I liked the fact that we were able to chat with one another in a relaxed setting and hear one another! Cocktails, wine and beer available, and other non-alcoholic drinks. There is handicapped parking. Everyone was so friendly here.
All staff, nurses, and doctors are the best, and caring.
A very home-like and caring atmosphere.

Our Village is a proud part of a Canadian family tradition of community building that goes back 70 years. The first Schlegel family home became the foundation of what Schlegel Villages is today. Here at The Village at University Gates, we offer several lifestyle options to meet a variety of needs. Our continuum of care allows for residents to age with us in place as their needs change. The residents we serve come from a range of backgrounds that thread together the fabric of our community, and while we know resident-centredness is a term that many lean on these days, we truly do focus on each individual’s wishes to guide our approach to service. Our Signature Programs help us focus on the individuality of each resident we serve. Our LIVING in My Today dementia care philosophy, for example, was developed by our team and our partners alongside people with lived experience. This provides our team the opportunity to learn exactly what it means to support a person who is experiencing the changing perceptions of dementia. We also celebrate the Wisdom of the Elder as another Signature Program, thanks to the inspiration of our founder Ron Schlegel. Ron once said: “The greatest untapped resource in Canada, if not the world, is the collective wisdom of our elders,” and we honour the individual and collective wisdom of those we serve in ways large and small.
