The Village Langley is a state-of-the-art memory care community, an ideal setting for people dealing with the adverse effects of Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. They can live here safely, free to come and go wherever they like within The Village. Family members' worries about tendencies to elopement evaporate. But there's so much more. Residents live a lifestyle that promotes more activity and requires less medication. The environment itself is a holistic treatment.
OPAL represents an exciting new vision in senior care, offering superior senior living, with an upscale modern design and up-to-the minute technology, in an intergenerational living environment. This building, the flagship of Element Lifestyle Retirement Inc., has excited us here at Comfort Life, since we first heard about it in 2016.
The staff and services are AMAZING, especially given the lockdown due to the Pandemic, the residents are truly lucky to make this place their home. So glad we found them for my Mom, I honestly can not think of a better place for her through this time.
My aunt lives there. She has the best care and is super happy.
My aunt was lucky to become one of the first residents here, and I have visited often. This is a truly groundbreaking facility and the staff are as patient and friendly as you'd hope for. I have noted the postings by others who are upset by the cost of living at The Village; asking "who can afford to live here?" and suggesting it is only for the elite. While I could not afford to live here, that is due to my particular circumstances and life choices. My aunt can afford to live here for many years to come, but I want to share her story and show others that living like this is not reserved just for the wealthy. Auntie M. and her family were sent to live in a BC internment camp during the war, when she was just a young girl. She left, barely into her teens; left her family and left school to return to the Lower Mainland to toil as a housekeeper for a wealthy family. She made this sacrifice to send money back to her parents and siblings. Later, after the war ended and everyone moved back to the Lower Mainland, Auntie M. found work in the Steveston cannery. She never completed her schooling; having to still help her parents and siblings and with little education, working in the cannery was what she could do. But, she was wise with her money, saved up, and bought a house. This house and her very dedicated savings are what allows her to enjoy life in the wonderful The Village now and for years to come. I am so happy that this amazing woman, who did hard physical work her whole life, sacrificed her youth and her education, is thriving at The Village due to her own self taught money management efforts. So to those who are affronted and snidely suggest that a community like The Village is an elitist utopian ideal, I suggest otherwise. Yes, it is costly but it is worth every penny for the high quality of care, the beautiful atmosphere and the priceless dignity with which residents are permitted to live. I couldn't recommend it enough!
We couldn't be more happy with the level of specialized dementia care and understanding provided by all the staff at the Village.
I feel so fortunate to have joined the Opal and to be living in this stressfree and most attractive environment! I love the multi-age concept and the diverse culture atmosphere here. The buildings are full of light and delightful art ,a lovely dining room with interesting menu choices, comfortable seating areas to enjoy conversations with interesting residents. Lots of choices of activities to join, makes life interesting! But what is most important to me is the staff and their welcoming, helpful and fun attitude with everyone they deal with ..... I feel very much at home at the Opal.
I was looking for an intergenerational community with Independent Living and licensed care options for my husband, who needs a licensed care suite, and me. I couldn't find a suitable community until my friend Stanley introduced OPAL to me. OPAL Licensed Care suites have 24-hour registered nurses, a team of healthcare aids, a rehab assistant, onsite physicians, recreation assistants, and an onsite dietician. I love OPAL recreation classes like gym, Zumba, Tai Chi, dance expressions, and bus tours. I have my favorites food in OPAL: double-boiled soup, Shanghaiese, and Cantonese food.
I do enjoy the life, the food and all the activities in Opal that's why I put the 5 stars for OPAL. My favorite activities are the exercising events such as dance class and pool. The culinary programs' "food" are the best. I love the Chinese and European style food. Everyday we have different menu that's the best! Every week we have a bus tour for field trip. Opal Recreation take us to many places that I never been before. They are amazing!
OPAL is a good place for seniors. Good food, cleaning weekly, and many activities to join. Air conditioning is a big advantage in this hot weather.
OPAL is definitely a gem. I was looking for a place for my mom who needs 24/7 care in the Vancouver area. I toured all of the top senior communities over three years and none was the right fit. Then came OPAL. I have high expectations on quality of the physical space, service, care and food. Our family members had multiple meals at OPAL with my mom and WOW! The food was as good as top restaurants and presentation, beautiful. I always promised my mom that I would never encourage her to move anywhere that I personally would not stay at. OPAL is a home run in every aspect. My usual lodging is the Shangri La or the Fairmont Pacific Rim when I visit, next time I'll request a hospitality suite at OPAL so I can stay close to my mom and enjoy the lifestyle. The staff, care team members and admin are all incredibly warm and kind. They run the senior community like it's a Four Seasons but better, with more service, amenities and tremendous kindness.
