The Village Langley is a state-of-the-art memory care community, an ideal setting for people dealing with the adverse effects of Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. They can live here safely, free to come and go wherever they like within The Village. Family members' worries about tendencies to elopement evaporate. But there's so much more. Residents live a lifestyle that promotes more activity and requires less medication. The environment itself is a holistic treatment.
Amica West Vancouver is an opportunity to move into a resort-style retirement residence where you might never need to leave the building. There’s everything you need plus many more luxuries that you come to appreciate after you move in. On top of all that, the staff here is very caring and diligent, going above and beyond.
The staff and services are AMAZING, especially given the lockdown due to the Pandemic, the residents are truly lucky to make this place their home. So glad we found them for my Mom, I honestly can not think of a better place for her through this time.
My aunt lives there. She has the best care and is super happy.
My aunt was lucky to become one of the first residents here, and I have visited often. This is a truly groundbreaking facility and the staff are as patient and friendly as you'd hope for. I have noted the postings by others who are upset by the cost of living at The Village; asking "who can afford to live here?" and suggesting it is only for the elite. While I could not afford to live here, that is due to my particular circumstances and life choices. My aunt can afford to live here for many years to come, but I want to share her story and show others that living like this is not reserved just for the wealthy. Auntie M. and her family were sent to live in a BC internment camp during the war, when she was just a young girl. She left, barely into her teens; left her family and left school to return to the Lower Mainland to toil as a housekeeper for a wealthy family. She made this sacrifice to send money back to her parents and siblings. Later, after the war ended and everyone moved back to the Lower Mainland, Auntie M. found work in the Steveston cannery. She never completed her schooling; having to still help her parents and siblings and with little education, working in the cannery was what she could do. But, she was wise with her money, saved up, and bought a house. This house and her very dedicated savings are what allows her to enjoy life in the wonderful The Village now and for years to come. I am so happy that this amazing woman, who did hard physical work her whole life, sacrificed her youth and her education, is thriving at The Village due to her own self taught money management efforts. So to those who are affronted and snidely suggest that a community like The Village is an elitist utopian ideal, I suggest otherwise. Yes, it is costly but it is worth every penny for the high quality of care, the beautiful atmosphere and the priceless dignity with which residents are permitted to live. I couldn't recommend it enough!
We couldn't be more happy with the level of specialized dementia care and understanding provided by all the staff at the Village.
I spent 21 days respite at Amica West Vancouver, following a total ankle replacement. Chris, Celeste, Concierge and all the staff were extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and professional the entire length of my stay. The food was excellent and the health and welfare checks were reliable and comforting. Recovery from surgery was expedited because of the care provided by Amica.
My mother spent the month of August in Respite at Amica Clyde Ave, after her fall. Our experience was a very good one with Chris Huggins and the staff members. They were helpful, friendly, and courteous at all times. The facilities and the food was excellent. My mother came home feeling much better, thanks to the staff.
We moved my mother to Amica from another care home last year. From day 1 the staff and management at Amica have been courteous, informative, and helpful. Grace and the rest of the care staff on the second floor are always cheerful and dedicated, with a real sense of teamwork and commitment. The facilities and food service are also excellent, but the most important function of daily health and personal care is absolutely first class.
Being in healthcare myself, I travel around BC in many senior care facilities, Amica is on my top list of the best. It took a lot for me to trust others with my grandmother's care. At Amica I feel at ease knowing she’s safe and well cared for... I love how at Amica the dining staff get to know their residents, even the family, too. First place I’ve been to that the chef will personally come and ask you about your meal.
Kindest staff you will ever meet. Moms new home for a week, the staff already feel like family
