When it was that time of life change for our parents; we visited Boardwalk, and since that original date with Roland- my parents have embraced the change with no hesitation. Roland had given and still gives our whole family the thoughtfulness as he did that original day! We are so blessed that this is the choice that was made ….. We look forward to a long journey here!

Our mother continues to have a wonderful experience at Boardwalk Retirement Community in Calgary since moving here several years ago. She has made many friends and there is genuinely a sense of community. We feel great that she has contemporaries who provide a sense of belonging. Aside from the other residents, I cannot say enough about the staff. Everyone from the dining room team to the cleaning team know her name and always greet her warmly. She has expressed many times how great they are. We have also built a great relationship with the Assistant Manager who truly is dedicated to the well-being of the residents. There is nothing too big or small that he cannot handle. Aside from the above, the community is in a great location and offers a wide variety of activities for the residents.

About six months ago I had to move fairly quickly and was looking for a new home. I was delighted when, after visiting, touring the building, and sharing a meal with other residents, I was offered an opportunity to live here. Fitting within my budget, the team at BRC has been wonderful. From the meals to the light housekeeping, and all of the other amenities, I am grateful. I have not missed my old place since moving to this, my new and hopefully forever home.

Although my parents have not moved in yet, the team at Boardwalk’s Calgary Retirement Community have gone above and beyond to provide the information they needed to make a decision that felt right for them. From our first inquiry, to helping us prepare for their move in August 2023, Sushil Singh’s excellent customer service has been amazing and greatly appreciated.

I started looking for a retirement complex in June [and] found Boardwalk Retirement Center's prices are very reasonable, they had some available units and my small dog is welcome. My two daughters and I went for a tour with Tony. He was very friendly, answered all our questions and invited us to stay for lunch on the house. We were very impressed with the menu and the quality of the food. It took awhile to make a decision and Tony is now on holidays. But no problem, because Sushil Singh took over very smoothly. I have gone back and forth changing move in dates and he handled it with understanding and patience. The general attitude of the staff is very friendly, helpful and caring. Some of the tenants we spoke to expressed happy contentment. The park like area next to the building is lovely. I will be a tenant soon and I look forward to it with happiness.

It fit my mom and dad perfectly, especially with the different levels of care: independent, assisted, enhanced memory care, they go right through to palliative. After moving in, their health got better. My mom got off oxygen. They were eating better. My mom put on weight again [thanks to] the balanced diet. She got off her blood pressure medications in the last year. A lot of positive things happened just because of the lifestyle... It definitely prolonged their lives in a very positive way. It was home for them. My mom was on palliative for six months, so that was a big benefit, knowing that they could stay through their days together. It was just good for them that they were still on the same floor, with only a nurse's station in between them.

After bilateral knee replacement, I convalesced at Staywell Manor Village for a couple of weeks. The care I received at Staywell was excellent. I appreciated it when I was staying at Staywell, and I was even more thankful for it when I went home. The suite was roomy and very comfortable, the food was incredible, and when I needed help, it appeared with the push of a button. When I reacted to my medication, I got advice from an RN (Joseph) and an LPN (Sanu) right away, and I was able to see the in-house doctor (Dr. Arcega) the next day. Amazing!

I don’t think we could have picked a better spot for my 95 year old father to transition from his home where he lived independently. He participated in many activities at StayWell enjoying the company of his fellow residents and remained active until his final day at age 98. We could not have asked for more caring and supportive staff.

My mom lived at Staywell Manor for 6 years both in Assisted Living and Memory Care … I was always impressed how patient and caring the staff were ... All the staff provided exceptional support to our family during this difficult time.

Our mom had lived in the manor community for 3.5 years and during that time she was cared for by a devoted staff. All of our dealings with the Manor management were cordial and all facets of the operation were always carried out with mom’s best wishes in mind. Over the few years the family got to know the front of house staff, kitchen staff and the wonderful caring medical personnel that undertook all of mom’s needs.
