Reviews of The Wellington

Gain exclusive insight into life at The Wellington. Comfort Life’s exclusive reviews and videos give you insider information from residents and their families.

Our perspective

The Wellington offers a unique combination of affordability and luxury amenities in an established area of Hamilton. We love its holistic approach to senior living, from its pet-friendly policy to the staff, who bring a tell-tale enthusiasm to their work. The combination of independent living with long term care makes it ideal for couples with varying needs to stay together in one community.

The interior of The Wellington is strikingly beautiful. The brightly lit, welcoming portico immediately feels like a place where you want to spend time. The lobby has a mezzanine, which houses the library, and a tea room, compactly situated in the corner beside the welcome desk. Further inside, features include a games room, a hairdressing station, and more. The gazebo and gardens outside are accessible greenspaces ideal for friendly gatherings.

What makes or breaks any retirement home, though, is the people and the community they create together. As an established community, the staff and administration are experienced in building a quick rapport with newcomers. We’re struck by the obvious care that staff have for each resident and for each other. People working here bring a palpable enthusiasm to their work. They’re visibly supportive of those in their care.

The staff were so friendly and caring. The facility was warm, inviting, and clean. Sadly our Dad was there just a short time - he had only good things to say. He really, really liked the food.

Hilma Rothwell, senior

All the staff, are so personable. Beds are made and room cleaned daily.

I could not ask for a more caring and dedicated group of people. The Wellington has proven to be a wonderful place. During the Pandemic..they protected residents like they were their own loved ones...keeping their Spirits up with music, dance and "Wacky Hair Days” posted regularly on Facebook. During the time when we were unable to visit ... the staff made regular Skype calls for the Residents. The Wellington turned out to be the best place for my Mother.

Carolyn Essner, family member

My Mother received excellent care while a resident at The Wellington. The Wellington has caring and highly qualified nursing and personal support staff as well as a fabulous Residents Support Services Unit that works very hard to provide residents with interesting, fun and entertaining activities on a daily basis. All staff have done an amazing job keeping the residents safe and entertained during the present COVID -19 outbreak.

Kevin McTiernan, family member

My Mother lived at the Wellington for [six] years ... Staff were very compassionate and kind towards my mother and went out of their way to make her comfortable. Every time I visited different staff would say they went to see my mother and some even sang a song for her. The doctor, nurses and support workers always listened to my concerns and showed they really cared. Their works of mercy will never be forgotten.
