On a beautiful Thursday afternoon in Mississauga, Community Members gathered in the main lobby of V!VA Mississauga Retirement Community to celebrate their community’s 5th year anniversary.
The theme for this years celebration was, “Grow With Us” – fitting as many Community Members and Team Members have been with V!VA Mississauga since it opened in 2011. Community Members enjoyed delicious hor d'oeuvres and chatting with friends while local pianist, Ron Adea, performed classical music on the baby grand piano. Mississauga Ward 10 Councillor, Sue McFadden, spoke to the audience about the significance of V!VA Mississauga in the community, reflecting on the important role it plays as a hub for both older adults and community groups throughout the area. Following Councillor McFadden’s remarks, V!VA Retirement Communities President, Eli Marder, stepped up to the podium and thanked everyone for five years of hard work, friendship, and dedication to V!VA’s mission of Making Today Great!
“What started so many years ago as just an idea to bring a new level of enrichment, quality, service and care to the seniors of Mississauga, has now exceeded all our expectations thanks to the many people who have worked here and called V!VA Mississauga home over the last five years. I’m very excited to see what the next five years and beyond have to offer,” he said.
Closing remarks were made by Community Director, Darlene Faulker, as she presented each Community Member and Team Member that has been with V!VA Mississauga since 2011 with a special corsage. Speeches were followed by a live performance by the V!VA Band, consisting of a very talented group of V!VA Mississauga Team Members, Community Members and members of the community at large.
