Tapestry's Holiday Spirit Shines Through
This past holiday season, Tapestry Retirement Communities took part in the “Be Santa to a Senior” fundraising program in the Vancouver area. Each year the fundraiser helps to provide Christmas gifts and spread holiday cheer to lonely or financially challenged seniors across North America.A truly generous and inspiring contribution from Tapestry residents, staff, family, and friends saw gifts donated, wrapped, and delivered to over 800 seniors this Christmas! The incredible kindness demonstrated by the communities of Tapestry at Wesbrook Village and Tapestry at Arbutus Walk will resonate in the minds and hearts of those who were given the opportunity to open a present on Christmas.
“Be Santa to a Senior” works with communities to identify seniors who otherwise wouldn’t receive any gifts over the holidays. Those seniors are then allowed to make a gift request by writing it down on a piece of paper and attaching it to a Christmas ornament which is placed on the Christmas tree in a participating community. Volunteers are then able to visit the tree, take an ornament (with the gift request), and purchase that gift for the individual.
The “Be Santa to a Senior” fundraising program has been a huge success
over the past six years, attracting 60,000 volunteers delivering presents to deserving seniors all over North America. Since its inception, the program has helped provide 1.2 million gifts to more than 700,000 seniors.
This is the kind of generosity that can light up the life of a single individual, inspire an entire community, and bring us all together. It shows us that we can accomplish great things, during the holidays, and all the days that follow.
