When the St. Elizabeth Retirement Residence in Hamilton heard the news about the first COVID-19 outbreaks in B.C., the team decided to take immediate action. With the help of the St. Elizabeth Village community, they implemented an aggressive pandemic preparedness plan to keep their staff and residents safe.
The results speak for themselves. Apart from one government-funded home care contractor who tested positive in the early stages and was quickly isolated, there have been no other reported cases among the remaining staff and residents.
St. Elizabeth Retirement Residence is part of a larger Zest Communities retirement development in Hamilton. This gated community of 800 residents aged 55 and over also has 558 garden homes, as well as recreational facilities, community gardens and scenic ponds.
