Comfort Life Gets Active at the Square One Senior's Walk-a-thon
The team at Comfort Life enjoyed a morning of fun on Friday October 12th with Mississauga seniors at the Square One Seniors Wellness Services and Square One Older Adult Centre Indoor Walk-a-thon. The theme of the day was to stay fit, stay healthy and have fun, which was easy with the aerobics warm up that kick-started the day.The warm-up was a lot of fun, with a great instructor and energizing music we all stretched out and warmed up. Once the warm up was done we made our way to the mall for the walk-a-thon route, complete with pit-stops where sponsors like Evergreen Retirement Community gave lots of encouragement and goodies like bottles of water, granola bars and pedometers.
With our pedometers strapped on we were ready to get serious about walking (and window shopping). The Comfort Life Team was quickly joined by others including the professional Mall Walkers.
After the walk was over, participants were treated to a complimentary breakfast along with excellent entertainment including the one and only Cam Wooledge, whistling beautiful and mesmerizing tunes for the audience. Overall the event was a huge success, with all funds raised going to support the Square One Seniors Wellness Services and the Square One Older Adult Centre.
Over 150 walkers participated in the event, but in particular, a few individuals need to be congratulated for raising an outstanding amount of money, including:
- Pam — who raised over $5000
- Edna — who raised over $4800
- Corine — who raised over $900
In fact, these three amazing women were the top 3 fundraisers for the event for the second year in a row! The dedication of the centre's members is a testament to how important the centre is to their daily lives, and how critical it is that it continues to remain open and able to provide superb programs, support and activities for seniors.
Comfort Life would like to thank the Square One Seniors Wellness Services and Square One Older Adult Centre for inviting us to participate in this event and raise money for a very worthy cause.
